EN- So I’m at that point in my life where I’m trying to make small changes in general to try and live a more ethical lifestyle and one of the more fun things to start discovering is fashion, that’s why I’m starting to turn my closet into an ethical closet, I guess you can say I’m a fast fashion junkie in recovery.
ES- Estoy en un punto de donde estoy tratando de hacer pequeños cambios a mi vida en general para tratar de tener un estilo de vida más éticamente responsable, y una de las cosas mas divertidas que empecé a descubrir es la moda es por eso que estoy empezando a cambiar mi closet en un closet ético, se podría decir que soy una fast fashion junkie en recuperación.
EN- Yes it’s a bit more expensive but I felt that for me that kinda helps in way (as crazy as it might sound) I’m paying for one blouse what I would have paid for 2 that I would probably use one time and never again or not even at all. So the fact that I have to pay a bit more for what I’m purchasing makes me really think about the peaces I’m getting and why. Yes is difficult I’m not going to lie, there so many great (and oh so cheap) things out there but you have to remember the choice that you made and why.
ES-Sí, es un poco mas caro de lo que estoy acostumbrada, pero en mi caso esto ayuda (por más loco que suene) estoy pagando por una blusa lo que pagaría por 2 que probablemente me hubiera puesto una sola vez ¡o nunca! El hecho de que tengo que pagar poco más de lo normal por lo que estoy comprando me hace realmente pensar en lo que voy a comprar y por qué. No les voy a mentir, ¡claro que es difícil! especialmente cuando hay cosas tan bonitas (y tan baratas) tan fácil de comprar, pero tienes que recordar la decisión que hiciste y por qué.
EN- To me if I spend more I kinda go on a state of mind that thinks: I spend this money now I have to use it, to get my moneys worth, and there is nothing wrong with utilizing that one great peace that you bought. And that is what I want to train my self for being ok with re using things over and over, I kinda lost the sense of style and combination. My brain use to think that I had to get something new to look great or different, instead of utilizing what I have, and that is precisely what Im trying to avoid, basically I want to kill that full closet and nothing to wear motto!
ES- Para mí gastar un poco más me pone en un estado mental de “me gasté esto ahora lo tengo que hacer rendir” y no hay nada de malo en ponerte esa pieza súper fantástica que se te ve genial un millón de veces. siento que perdí un poco de mi sentido de la moda y estilo por que mi cerebro se le olvidó el arte de combinar cosas, pensaba que tenía que comprar algo nuevo para verme diferente, en ves de usar o re combinar lo que ya tengo, y eso es precisamente lo que quiero evitar. Básicamente quiero acabar con el pensamiento de un ¡closet lleno y nada que ponerme!
EN- Another thing is it made me stop myself, and it was difficult because there are so many ethical beauties out there but (mostly because I could not afford it) I only bought the pieces I actually needed. Which is a big part of all of this just not buying for the sake of buying but trying to use the most of what you have or what you get, so yeah it was difficult but I’m trying to pull off an ethical closet and yeah I still have along way to go, but like I said I’m not going to throw away perfectly good pieces that I had previously bought because they are not ethically made that would just be a huge waste. I will try and use everything as much as I can and once things need replacement slowly replace them (if I need to) with ethical brands.
ES- Otra cosa, me puse un alto, y vaya que fue difícil pues hay un mundo nuevo de cosas hermosa y éticamente responsable pero (en gran parte por causas de presupuesto) solo compré las cosas que realmente necesitaba. Lo cual es una gran parte de dejar de comprar solo por comprar o por que esta en especial. y tratar de utilizar hasta totalmente desgastar lo que ya tengo. Así que definitivamente es un cambio difícil, pero estoy intentando tener un closet ético y aunque todavía me queda un largo camino por recorrer por que tengo demasiadas cosas que había comprado antes que no son éticamente responsables, y no las voy a tirar solo por esa razón sería un desperdicio gigante de ropa, simplemente intentaré usarlas más y cuando tenga que remplazar piezas poco a poco irlas remplazando por ropa que si es responsable.
EN- I am only human so I guess you can say I’m taking baby steps, and did what I always do, went straight into the sale section! so what is in the closet you ask, well here is what I got:

EN- There is a certain feel good quality I get by doing this switch is an added bonus, the feeling that what I’m doing is having a positive impact in the environment and what I purchased might have helped somebody somewhere to live a better life, so just that feeling alone is enough to get me hooked and be in a better mood while I’m wearing this. I’m trying to do this with everything that I surround myself with not just clothing but I am only human so I guess you can say I’m taking baby steps, and you should too! (if you want to)
ES- Hay un sentir de felicidad que me da hacer esto, lo cual es como un bonus extra, el sentimiento de que lo que estoy haciendo esta dejando un impacto positivo en el ambiente y lo que compré puede que este ayudado a alguien en algún lugar a tener una mejor calidad de vida, solo ese sentimiento es suficiente para ponerme de buenas cuando me pongo estas cosas y motivarme a hacer estos cambios no solo con mi ropa pero ¡con todo lo que me rodea! Pero como dije antes solo soy una simple mortal, pero ¡estoy tomando pequeños pasos y tu deberías también! (solo si quieres)
